Sorry to say it, but every once in a while I go a little overboard when it comes to enjoying an anime. The latest one is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. It’s probably my favorite because I have begun to read it in its entirety, a 150-page pictureless novel, from my calculator. (Bonding with books via technology always makes me appreciate them more.)
Synopsis
The fact that Haruhi made it to the Japanese public via a book astonished me. The story is interesting as well, but I’m no professional reviewer so don’t bother asking me about it. All I can say is that it keeps you reading, with a normal, relatable, un-heroic protagonist, surrounded by the most unusual settings imaginable.
Starting with Haruhi. She is a bundle of energy is convinced that somewhere in the world are aliens, time-travelers, and ESPers. And her ultimate goal in life is to find them. After suggesting she start a club, “Kyon” is dragged into her world. So is Nagato, quiet reader who just happened to be there; Asahina, a girl enlisted solely because she was cute; and Koizumi, a mysterious transfer student.

A MIDI version of the Haruhi “Hare Hare Yukai” theme is available here. I hear it’s not quite right, but I don’t exactly know it yet. (Haven’t seen the anime…) - http://haruhi.djbouche.net/ Saying you miss anything Haruhi-wise, go here. ‘Nuff said.
- http://www.asosbrigade.com Good ol’ Bandai Entertainment put this site on the web. I don’t really know what to do with it, though.
